The Bordeaux region has developed into a major producer of great wines, known for their aging potential, thanks to its close relationship with England since the Middle Ages. In the Left Bank areas such as Médoc and Graves, robust wines predominantly made from Cabernet Sauvignon are produced, while the Right Bank areas of Saint-Émilion and Pomerol are known for their elegant Merlot-based wines. In the Sauternes region, high-quality noble rot wines, including the famed Château d'Yquem, are produced.
